The Vernon Township Fire Protection Territory was formed in May of 2020.  The Territory is located in the northwest corner of Hancock County, Indiana. Vernon Township Fire Department (VTFD) protects the citizens of the Town of Fortville, the Town of McCordsville and the unincorporated rural area of Vernon Township.

Vernon Township has one (1)  fire department consisting of paid part-time and paid per run firefighters to serve all of Vernon Township with contract services in Green Township in Madison County, Indiana.

VTFD also has in-house Advanced Life Services EMS.  We run one ambulance 24/7 but as Vernon Township grows, so will we.

A new 4.25 Million Dollar four bay fire station was constructed in Fortville, Indiana and completed in May of 2019.  Vernon Township presently leases the McCordsville Volunteer Station and plans to build a new McCordsville station as funding allows.

Vernon Township Fire Department is actively hiring Firefighter Paramedics only.

Preference will be given to Firefighter EMTs, Firefighter Paramedics, and Firefighters that are currently certified with the state of Indiana.
