Vernon Township Property Sale Bid Details
Bids are to be delivered to the Vernon Township Office at 700 W. Broadway in Fortville no later than Friday August 13, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. EST. You will be asked to sign in and turn your sealed bid packet into Township staff. Bids will be marked by submission time/date.
Township Sale Information:
Township will present clean title at closing.
Township staff will review bids within 48 hours of submission.
Township staff will call with any questions on bids.
Bids once opened by the Township Staff are available for public inspection.
Any bid may be modified or increased prior to the bid deadline, but after Friday August 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm, no new bids or modifications will be accepted. Any bid increases made by an existing bidder at or near the deadline may require the Township to allow all other bidders to have a final opportunity to modify their bid prior the Board’s decision on August 18th. All bids should contain a valid email address where a bidder can be notified in writing if this event occurs and your submission of a bid constitutes your consent to receive communication from the Township by electronic mail.
Township board will meet on August 18th at 6:30 pm to review bids and select the winning bid.
Bid review decision is based on highest price/best use.
Only the successful bidder will be notified.
Closing will be within a reasonable time limit from bid acceptance.
Possession of the building is negotiable. Township offices are being relocated to 602 Vitality Drive once renovation is complete.
Buyer shall pay all closing costs, transfer costs, and costs of any title insurance or other third-party confirmations desired.
Buyer may pay for survey or Phase I. This process may not hold up closing.
Buyer and seller will pay their own respective advisors, attorneys or agents.
Bids must include the following:

2. Public Tours?
Friday, July 16th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm & Saturday, July 17th from 9:00 – 11:00 am. Blueprints are available for review.
3. Private Building Tours?

Property Appraisals were completed by JM Compton and Schreiner Valuation. The minimum bid price was determined from the appraisals to be $585,000. Appraisals are available for purchase from Compton and Schreiner.
5. Zoning? Pursuant to the Town of Fortville 700 West Broadway is zoned Business-1 (B-1). This a grandfathered zoning district carried over to Fortville from Hancock County. You may reference pages 268-269 of 2002 Hancock County Zoning Ordinance.
